Our Mission
At Fortuna Female Society, our mission is to combat social isolation by offering free and affordable events that inspire, empower, and champion women. We partner with local community groups in Widnes and Runcorn to create a supportive network for women across Halton, Cheshire.
Halton Community Lottery

The Hygiene Pantry
We’ve teamed up with Halton and St Helens VCA to launch The Hygiene Pantry to help make sure no one in Halton goes without the essentials. Donate items like deodorant, shampoo, soap, baby wipes, nappies, toothpaste and washing powder.
Drop donations at HSHVCA, St Marie’s, Lugsdale Road, Widnes WA8 6DB, Monday to Friday, 10 am – 3 pm.

Body Well Women's Art Group
Unleash your inner artist at our Body Well sessions! Once a month, we’re getting creative with local artist Georgina.
It’s a chance to splash some paint around, have a laugh, and tap into your artistic side – no experience needed!
While we’re at it, we’ll chat about getting to know our bodies better. It’s a relaxed, friendly atmosphere where you can express yourself and learn something new at the same time.
Open to all ladies 18 and over, these sessions are a great way to unwind and meet new people. We’ll provide all the art supplies and refreshments to keep your creative juices flowing.
Body Well is funded by Halton Housing Helping Hands Community Fund. There’s a suggested donation of £5.

Woman:Kind Cafe
Join us at WOMAN:KIND, a free, informal peer-led support group for women affected by domestic abuse.
It’s a safe space to connect, find support, and take a break with free self-care resources, tea, and coffee. No booking needed – just drop in!

Make It Mindful Art Group
Need a slower start to your Friday? Make It Mindful Art Group brings together creativity, calm, and good company, led by local artist Georgina.
Each week, we explore art and create something wonderful with no rush and no pressure to get it “right.” It’s all about slowing down, making something, and enjoying a mindful morning with other women.
All art supplies and refreshments are provided, so you can just turn up and create at your own pace.

Women's Supper Club
Fancy a friendly get-together over a warm bowl of soup? Our Supper Club for women over 18 years old is just the ticket!
Every month, we’re serving up a delicious soup supper and a hearty helping of good company.
It’s the perfect chance to meet new faces, have a natter, and shake off the stresses of daily life. The best bit? It won’t cost you a penny!
Bring a friend (or 2!) and something to share on the sweet trolley.
Our Supper Club is free to attend. We do gratefully welcome donations, but there’s no pressure.
Just remember to book your spot in advance so we know how many bowls to fill. So go on, treat yourself to an evening of good food and great conversation.
We can’t wait to welcome you!

Let Her Shine
Calling all mums and daughters! Our Let Her Shine sessions are the perfect chance for you to spend some quality time together while exploring important topics.
We’ll be diving into fun activities that tackle self-esteem, body positivity, and mindfulness – all designed to inspire and empower our younger generation. It’s a safe space to chat, learn, and grow together, with plenty of laughs along the way.
Let Her Shine sessions are completely free to attend, so you can join in without worrying about the cost. Donations are always gratefully received.

Switch & Stitch Sewcial
Switch & Stitch Sewcial is our monthly sewing group all about creativity, connection and sustainability. It’s a relaxed space where women can learn how to repair and upcycle clothes, try out simple sewing projects, and share ideas together.
All materials are provided, and sewing machines are available (limited, so bring your own if you have one). Sessions are fun, friendly and open to women of all abilities – no sewing experience needed.
Switch & Stitch Sewcial takes place on the 4th Friday of every month at St Marie’s. It’s free to attend, donations always welcome!
This group is funded by the Viridor We Share Community Fund.
