Fortuna Female Society - Our Story
Fortuna Female Society grew from something simple – a few local women with a shared belief that when women come together, incredible things happen.
It all started with two “Women Shall Overcome” events back in 2017 and 2018. We brought women together to perform, create, and showcase their talents. We had amazing women showcasing their talents from music and art to small business ventures.
The energy in the room was electric. After the second event, so many women asked for more ways to connect and grow that we knew we had to keep it going.
So, we formed a small volunteer-run community group, made up of women right here in Halton. With a starter grant from the council, we began hosting workshops chosen by our members, from self-defence to first aid. Each activity and workshop built confidence, friendships, and a sense of belonging.
Today, all of us at Fortuna Female Society are proud to be a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). We are still volunteer-led, still deeply rooted in our community, and still driven by the same spirit of connection that started it all.
Charitable status means we can do even more: grow our activities, create space of our own, and one day, bring staff on board to help us support even more women to connect, rise, and thrive.
